in this industry busy is very good...

There are some days that you can't remember where it started or where it ended. That's what happened yesterday.

As I was saying being busy is a good thing in this industry, it makes time past by, means your reputation is growing and your skills are getting better as well as being noticed! What makes days like this even better is when you have a guest that wants a complete change...to leave as a different person than when they walked in.

I love this kind of challenges it makes the whole day that much brighter! Then to hear from that guest the next day saying they are completely in LOVE with their hair, you can't help but grin from ear to ear and have that nice glow about you for the next few days.

Keep working from day to day, just to get a guest like that from time to time makes everything worth while!

full of excitement and then the let down...

When you have been preparing something for a month, staying up all night preparing the final touches, then when it's 'show' time and one of the people that was to benefit from it the most doesn't show up or answer anyones calls, it's really hard to not take it personal.

This morning I was all set on giving a presentation on the wash house at my salon, got all the goodies set up and I was so excited! then noon came around and one of the stylists doesn't show up, the newest one into our little family. Well, that wouldn't be so bad except we are a really small family; there is our boss, then the three of us. One was out of town and so it was just going to be for the 2 of them anyway, at 'show' time it was just one. It is very hard to give a group presentation to one person!

But I did it! We had fun learning all about the different menus that the wash house has to offer, what you need to perform them and how to have fun with it! I some how managed to learn still while giving the presentation, how awesome is that?

Today was awesome, hopefully tomorrow will be just as or even better!!

It's time for your Journey through the wash house...

What does that even mean, right? Well, I'll tell you! In the Paul Mitchell world you don't get a shampoo, you get a Wash House Experience. That's where we pamper you to the point of falling asleep. I mean that's the whole point of coming to the salon right? I mean besides leaving with fabulous hair of course! But back to what I was saying, the wash house...

In the wash house there is a different feel than the rest of the salon. First off it has it's own room where we keep the lights low and the music soft. It is full of Fragrance and Peace, where you can forget all your troubles and worries, at least for a little while that is. Next comes the wonderful scalp massage, which isn't a tease...it last for a minimum of five minutes. Then you get the wonderful warm towel treatment and yet another scalp massage. After all of that you also get a hand massage...life is looking pretty good at this point, you've finally relaxed!!

So what Treatment are you going to choose to go along with your Wash House Experience?

sometimes you get frustrated...

No matter how much knowledge you have in the world of color, sometimes the hair wins. I had a guest the other night that wanted blonde, but it had to be ash. so to do that you have to lift it and then redeposit the ash tone (most people lift to a 'fun' orange tone) so we did the first part and she flipped out on me. "I don't want orange, I look like Lucile Ball" which she didn't and I had to remind her about the second part of the process. Well, we got her to her ash blonde, she said she loved it, I couldn't stand the color...we'll see what happens in the future.

here's to the beginning of a year in July...

I had the best idea the other day, to blog about the fun, weird, and all the discoveries of being in the salon, for a whole year!

So here we go...
